Husky Banana × Textile to Textile
WHY TEXTILE TO TEXTILE?
More of what we already have.
There is an enormous amount of clothing and textiles that are no longer in use. We don’t believe they should be burned, sent to landfill, or shipped to countries where their proper treatment cannot be ensured. A better option is to recover the valuable raw materials they contain and put them back to use.
From textile back to textile.
For us, Textile to Textile means exactly that: turning discarded clothing and textiles into raw material for new textiles. The material’s life doesn’t end. It continues in a new form.
Less virgin raw material.
When existing materials are kept in circulation, we can reduce the need for new fossil based and other virgin raw materials. We believe in making better use of what already exists.
Textiles back to textiles. Bottles back to bottles.
All recycling is a step in the right direction, but our goal is to keep materials in their own cycles whenever possible. Textiles back into textiles and bottles back into bottles, rather than turning bottles into clothing simply because it can be labelled as recycled.
A smaller environmental footprint.
The production of recycled fibres can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the use of virgin natural resources compared with equivalent virgin fibres. The actual impact depends on the material, recycling technology, energy used and the entire production chain.
Technology is transforming recycling.
Automated material identification, increasingly advanced sorting and AI are making it possible to sort textiles faster and more accurately. At the same time, both mechanical and chemical recycling technologies are evolving. The goal is for an increasing share of discarded textiles to be returned to raw material for new fibres at an industrial scale.
Our goal.
We want to use Textile to Textile materials in our products whenever technically and qualitatively possible. For natural fibres, our preferred choice is certified organic cotton.
We don’t always need new raw materials. We need a better way to use what we already have.
