Sustainability

Material

Husky Banana has started using more and more recycled material instead of “virgin material”. The materials meet OEKO-Tex and Global Recycled Standard certificates. The main sources of recycling are used soft drink bottles and nets. The result is an advanced, durable, suitably tight and skin-friendly material.

The production of recycled material requires almost 60 percent less energy than the production of virgin polyamide. Carbon dioxide emissions are about 30 percent lower than in the production of virgin material.

Global Recycled Standard

Husky Banana's recycled materials comply with the Global Recycled Standard. The aim of the standard is to increase the use of recycled materials. The GRS includes additional criteria for social and environmental treatment requirements and chemical restrictions. GRS contains e.g. these features:

- make it easier for consumers to choose the recycling option once the material has been audited by a third party.

- standardization reduces the adverse effects of production on humans and the environment.

- ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with sustainable development.

- increase the percentages of product recycling content.

 Oeko-Tex Standard

Oko-Tex Standard 100 is an international textile testing and certification system developed in 1992. The standard restricts the use of certain textile chemicals that are considered contaminants. A certificate issued by independent research institutes guarantees that the product does not contain harmful pesticide, heavy metal or formaldehyde residues.
